This boundary stone on the Hainichlandweg, not far from the Hassenburg, commemorates the course of the former border between the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha (HSG) and the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (SWE). The adjacent property Probsteizella belonged to the rule of Duke Ernst August of SWE. After 1922, Probsteizella was assigned to the former Hopffgarten court village of Frankenroda. A well-restored and well-maintained castle ruin. Everything is secure, the tower is accessible via a staircase and there is even a toilet. The view from the tower is very beautiful.

Rudi Gast collects fantastic and curious things from the forest in Frankenroda: Wood with unusual shapes and grains, with adhesions, trapped stones or signs of damage caused by pests. Rudi Gast goes deep into the forest to find his exhibits. There is a lot to discover in the half-timbered house with barn and courtyard: In addition to wood in all forms, there are also around 500 hammers from a wide variety of trades. Frankenroda is a municipality in the Wartburg district in Thuringia. The municipality belongs to the Hainich-Werratal administrative community. Frankenroda is located in the landscape protection area of the Werra valley. The Mönchsberg towers over the village, a northern side peak of the Breiten Berg, which mostly belongs to Falken, with a small viewing tower. Probsteizella, north of the town, belongs to Frankenroda. Haineck Castle, built around 1392, which is probably one of the last medieval castles built in Thuringia, was set above Nazza, about 1 km north of the village, on the tongue of a Hainich mountain range, Many encounters take place in the old walls today. On Ascension Day, young and old make a pilgrimage to the castle ruins to celebrate the Ascension Day service, which has become a tradition. Bridal couples say yes to each other several times and families spend entire weekends here with their children. You sleep in tents and cook at the campfire - experience pure nature - all this is possible today with prior agreement in the old castle ruins of Haineck. From 1826 to 1918, Frankenroda, like Hallungen, Ebenshausen and Nazza, belonged to the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha as an enclave. The life of the inhabitants of the Werrad village at that time must imagine being very poor, many families were heavily in debt. Besides agriculture, the main source of income was linen weaving. The menu was often supplemented with fish from the Werra. At that time, in many Frankenroda houses there was, in addition to spinning wheels, a large loom on which the flax grown in the country and processed into yarn was woven into linen cloth.
