The Ohratalsperre was built between 1960 and 1966 and today supplies over 400,000 residents with drinking water and generates 400 KW of electricity through hydropower. There is a circular hiking trail around the dam and two foredams. Places worth seeing around the dam are the Kulissenfelsen, the Gerastollen and many great views of the dam. A visit, whether for hiking or cycling, is always worthwhile.

We wanted to stop for lunch but unfortunately the hut was completely booked. It's a shame that as a hiker without a reservation you have no chance of getting a table because everyone drives past you in their car on the way there.
