Mayor Bernhard Storath and sculptor Clemens Muth, both from Ebensfeld, met with Franciscan Father Heribert Arens of Vierzehnheiligen in the summer of 2018 to discuss the "St. Francis Stele" project. The philosophy of Francis of Assisi's life and faith are intended to inspire people in and around Ebensfeld to treat each other responsibly and live in God's creation. This is how the ideas for the design of the four sides of the stele arose. The location on the bridge is no coincidence! The St. Francis Stele, a vertical cube, is connected both in terms of the material used and thematically.

Located at the transition between fields and riverside vegetation, the shelter is ideally situated for observing many 🐦 species. Unfortunately, a parking lot and the access to the canoe launch are located next to it.
