😎The “Dreiländerstein” was built in 1749 and is located between Hohegeiß, Rothesütte and Benneckenstein. This is where the states of the Duchy of Braunschweig “HB”, the Kingdom of Prussia “HB”, and the Count Wernigerode Forest Area “GW” met. During the division of Germany, the stone formed a border point between the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR. Today the stone marks the border between the federal states of Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony.

Not just a paradise for children. There is also enough to see for dear parents. The ice cream is first class. Definitely needs to be tasted. A tasting is also worthwhile in the farm shop and in the small restaurant.

The old turning body has fallen over in the meantime. You can still see the remains of the old spiral staircase that long ago allowed visitors to climb to the platform in the treetop.

The Three-State Stone was probably erected as early as 1749. It bears the inscriptions: HB (Duchy of Brunswick), AB (Benneckenstein District), which was later changed to KP (Kingdom of Prussia), and GW (County of Wernigerode Forest). During the Cold War (1945–1990), the boundary stone marked a border point along the inner-German border, from 1945 between the British Occupation Zone (BBZ) in the west and the Soviet Occupation Zone (SBZ) in the east, and from 1949 between the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) in the west and the German Democratic Republic (GDR) in the east. The Iron Curtain ran past it, including the patrol road, which once served as a border control route and is now used as a hiking trail. Since October 3, 1990, German Unity Day, the boundary stone has marked the border of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. It now stands within the Green Belt of Germany.
