Several hiking trails meet at this oak tree. That's why a hut was built here.

The refuge is located on a small hill directly on the Vierseenblick path and only a few hundred meters away from the Köhlerhütte.

The Forsthaus Kühkopf was built in 1845 and, with its rustic flair, has served many visitors as a resting place in the Koblenz city forest for over 170 years. Next to a shelter stands the angel oak. According to the information board, the composer Engelbert Humperdinck (*1854, †1921) often traveled here to find inspiration for his pieces. Humperdinck became famous through his fairy tale opera "Hansel and Gretel" and worked as an editor for the music publisher Schott in Mainz.

Nice restaurant with beer garden. And now open again without restrictions. When we last came by on a hike in April 2021, strict corona restrictions still applied.

When you have hiked about half of the stage from Lorch to Kaub (or vice versa), you will reach this gorgeous place: a wine stand in the middle of the forest. It is open from the first warm day of the year until the first frost at the end of the year. Every day from around 11 a.m. The landlord doesn't hesitate and puts a bottle of wine and a few glasses on the table for you and your fellow hikers - unless you explicitly order a beer - and will be happy to grill a few things for you on the open grill. After that, the rest of the stage is a breeze.
