The oldest drinking water dam in Saxony - which is also the third oldest in Germany - is located in a forest in the Chemnitz district of Einsiedel. It was built from quarry stone between 1891 and 1894. It serves as a balancing reservoir for the Einsiedel waterworks and is connected to the Neunzehnhain I and II and Saidenbach dams by pipelines, tunnels, canals, artificial ditches and natural watercourses. You mainly meet bikers here who can accelerate on the clear path without having to slow down too often. The route is also very nice for running because the surface of the path is not too demanding and you can let your eyes and thoughts wander for a bit.
