Cala Luna is an enchanting bay and an estuary very frequented by summer maritime traffic. It is absolutely worth a visit, as it represents a true pearl of the Mediterranean with its light sand, turquoise water, numerous small caves and almost white rocks. It can be reached either on foot or by boat. The beauty of this bay is beyond compare. Here you can find shelter in the shade of one of the numerous caves or immerse yourself in the crystal clear waters, a true treasure of Sardinia. At the end of the bay, an oasis invites you to stop for a snack in the kiosk or for a picnic. Also watch out for bold goats grazing on the steep slopes! If the walk back seems too challenging, you can always take a boat back to Cala Gonone or Cala Fuili.

Cala Spinosa is a small corner of paradise, a splendid cove where the contrast between the bright colors of the sea, the warm granite rocks and the golden sand inspires a feeling of contemplation in the face of the beauty and power of nature. Intimate and uncontaminated, hidden and serene, this enchanting beach is located near the legendary lighthouse that watches over the Strait of Bonifacio.

Cala Grande, known as "Valley of the Moon" since the 1960s thanks to the hippy community that settled there, is a valley that slopes gently down to the sea, nestled between two granite ridges. Here there are wonderful coves with turquoise waters that contrast with the golden colors of the rocks and the green of the Mediterranean scrub. This 500 meter expanse received its nickname for a very specific reason. Walking through this fascinating landscape, you may feel like you're on another planet. But the experience is deeply earthly and will give you incredible moments.

Hiking/climbing through the Valle della Luna is an incredibly great experience. For me the ultimate Sardinia experience. The Romans had a quarry there, and the pieces of stone they left behind can be recognized by their angular, straight lines.

Already on the journey along the coastal road from Cala Gonone, a fascinating panorama reveals itself to you: Cala Fuili, located at the southernmost end, shines as a small, almost white pebble beach and forms the gateway to the rocky coast of the bay of Bay, which stretches for kilometers and is protected Orosei. From the street above, which primarily serves as a parking space, stairs lead down into this idyllic bay. The first sight of the crystal clear, turquoise water will take your breath away. And when you feel the soft pebbles under your feet, you will understand why this place is considered a real insider tip. The sea not only invites you to cool off, but also offers a paradise for snorkelers with its underwater world. Despite the high season, you will be surprised at how pleasant the "towel population density" is here. Nevertheless, the earlier you arrive, the more undisturbed you can enjoy this gem. However, before you plunge into the adventure, think about the Mediterranean sun: a sun hat, enough sunscreen and, above all, plenty of water should definitely be in your luggage. So, follow the stairs down into a world of white and turquoise and discover the hidden treasures of Cala Fuili.

This impressive mountain range is the highest in the region and offers an unmistakable panorama with its two striking granite peaks, Punta sa Berritta and Punta Balistreri. The rugged peaks contrast with the densely forested slopes, which form a green band around the bare peaks with chestnuts, pedunculate oaks, pines, firs and firs. As soon as you reach the summit and look as far as Corsica and the island of Asinara under clear skies, you will understand why so many hikers rave about this place. Your starting point could be the hiking car park below the summit, where the small Madonna della Neve chapel rises from granite rocks. From here you have six different trekking routes available. But maybe you would like to start the adventure in the town of Vallicciola and set off on a hike into the mountain range. Such a circular tour takes between two and a half and four hours, depending on the route. You should be alert on the way, because wild boars roam this area. It is advisable to avoid the forest and take to the road, especially at dusk. Would you like to take a break? Then find a place near the church where you can enjoy the peace and quiet and the view. And when you finally drive along the winding road that takes you into the mountains, you will find that the journey is an adventure in itself. The best time to tour the Monte Limbara mountain range is between May and October. But even in winter, the snow-covered peak offers a charming sight. You need to be sure-footed on your hike, because nature shows its wild side here. But that is precisely what makes this region so charming. So, lace up your hiking boots and set off on a journey of discovery!

Imagine standing on the highest point in Sardinia, Punta La Marmora, and your gaze sweeps over the entire island. On a clear day you can even see the silhouettes of Corsica on the horizon. You can put this experience into practice by hiking to the summit of this 1,834 meter high elevation. Ideally, start your tour in the parking area at Rifugio Sa Crista or Rifugio S’Arena near Desulo. The route is not short at 15.5 kilometers, but it rewards you with an incredible variety of landscapes. Within a walking time of three and a half to four and a half hours, you will cross picturesque forests, pass flowering meadows and hike across impressive boulder and craggy terrain. Among other things, it goes over the summits of Bruncu Spina and Punta Paulinu. As you climb from Bruncu Spina towards Punta La Marmora, a huge summit cross might lead you astray. But don't be fooled, because the true summit is only reached when you reach the small rock pyramid that marks the top of La Marmora. The peak itself was named after the general and scientist Alberto Ferrero della Marmora, who described Sardinia in detail in his works. His love for the island will become clear to you at the summit when you enjoy the breathtaking view. You should be well prepared for this hike. This means: Sturdy hiking boots, enough water and sun protection should be in your luggage. If you need refreshment in between, you can stop off in the towns of Desulo or Fonni. The months from June to September are ideal for the tour. But Punta La Marmora is actually a year-round hiking destination for everyone who is looking for something special. Ready for this adventure? Then lace up your hiking boots and experience Sardinia at its best!

On your journey through Sardinia you will discover countless picturesque bays, but Cala Francese stands out in a special way. It is not for nothing that Sardinia is often referred to as the "Caribbean of Europe" - and here, on this little piece of earth, this name comes to life. When hiking to Cala Francese you quickly realize that the landscape is constantly changing. With every step a new, breathtaking view is revealed. The deep blue tones of the water, contrasted by the rough rocks, make everyday life seem a long way away. A tip for the hike: rely on sturdy shoes. The rocks may be grippy and give you a sure footing, but the paths between them can be challenging. I have to agree with Bernd that flip flops are out of place on the small paths that meander through the rough stone landscape. Caution and consideration are required here in order to enjoy the full experience. At the end, your reward awaits you: the crystal-clear waters of Cala Francese, which invite you to linger and dream. A small paradise that reflects the beauty of Sardinia in its purest form. Immerse yourself in nature and let yourself be enchanted by Cala Francese.

The Valle della Luna, or the "Valley of the Moon", is named after a reason. As you walk through this fascinating landscape, you may feel as if you have landed on another planet. But rest assured, the experience is absolutely earthly and will give you unforgettable moments. From the very beginning, it is clear that this tour is a real adventure. The path through the impressive rock formations is not always easy to find, and climbing over the rocks is the order of the day. But that is precisely what makes it so appealing! During your tour, you will notice that there are no markings. But don't worry: as a friendly hiker once told me, "you always find a way". And so will you. Between the many paths that wind through the valley, you will always find your way. Along the way, you may come across inhabitants in stone or rock caves. It was a surprising encounter during my visit, but the friendly faces and relaxed conversations quickly made it clear: harmony reigns here. The highlight of the hike is the hidden bay, which you reach after passing through the Valle della Luna. A tip: the descent behind the lighthouse can be treacherous and is quite steep. Some found it challenging, but with the necessary caution and patience it can be managed. After an exciting day, perhaps a dip in the cool water and lots of new impressions, you will make your way home with tired legs but a smile on your face. The Valle della Luna is a unique experience - wild, untamed and absolutely recommended.

Climbing to Punta La Marmora from Bruncu Spina you first reach the pre-summit, which is misleading with its enormous summit cross. To reach the highest peak in Sardinia, you need to continue further south until you reach a small rock pyramid. This marks La Marmora's peak share of 1,833.

Punta La Marmora, which rises 1,834 meters above sea level, is the highest peak in Sardinia. It is located in the Gennargentu massif. A cross crowns the top of this magnificent place. Running up here isn't difficult, except for some occasionally steep sections. It's not very technical; you just have to be fit. The breathtaking views make it truly extraordinary. You can see up to the lake of the upper Flumendosa, Perda Liana and Arbatax, if the fog allows it, and on the other side you can range up to Oristano. It's incredible.

Punta La Marmora (Perdas Carpìas in the Sardinian language), with its 1,834 meters is the highest peak in Sardinia. The peak bears the name of the general and scientist Alberto Ferrero della Marmora, who described the island in two scientific-literary works; Voyage en Sardaigne, from 1826 and Itinéraire de l'île de Sardaigne, from 1860.

The Gorropu Gorge or Gorroppu is considered the deepest and most spectacular canyon in Europe. It is located in Supramonte, Sardinia, between Orgosolo and Urzulei. The gorge was slowly carved out by the water of the Rio Flumineddu. The walls of the canyon reach 500 meters in height.

Monte Limbara is the highest mountain massif in northern Sardinia. The two bare granite peaks Punta Balistreri (1,363 m) and Punta sa Berritta (1,359 m) are visible from afar. The slopes of the Monte Limbara massif are forested almost to the summit with chestnut, pedunculate oak, pine, pine and fir trees. (Source: Wikipedia)
