The Cabane Vauban was built in the 17th century and is named after the famous French fortification engineer Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban, who was responsible for the design and reinforcement of numerous coastal fortifications during the reign of Louis XIV. The hut originally served as a shelter for sentries and customs officers monitoring the coast to detect smugglers or enemy ships early. While there are several similar observation points along the Normandy coast, the Cabane Vauban near Carolles is considered the most well-known and well-preserved.

It's essential to note that tent camping is strictly prohibited below 2500 meters altitude in this region of Italy.

The Elisabetta Soldini Montanaro refuge is a magnificent refuge located at 2,195 meters. It is located between Col de la Seigne and Courmayeur. Ideal for a break, it offers a breathtaking view of the Val Veny, the Aiguille de Trélatête and the Lex Blanche glacier. The refuge takes its name from the Italian hiker Elisabetta Soldini Montanaro, who died in an accident in the mountains. The trails around the refuge are great for running.

Rifugio Elisabetta is a refuge in the Italian Alps at an altitude of 2195 m. Rifugio Elisabetta is a convenient overnight stop for hikers on the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB). There are no other huts along this part of the Tour du Mont Blanc. It is often impossible to find a place (especially during peak periods in July and August). It should also be remembered that the use of tents is formally prohibited in this part of Italy, below 2500 meters altitude.
