Beautiful cabin

A cozy mountain hut with very friendly staff. From the dining tables, you have a view of the large reservoir and the surrounding mountains. Overnight stays are available in small dormitories.

The Capanna Brogoldone is an alpine pasture with two main huts. One hut can accommodate up to 59 people. The other hut houses a small restaurant. Amazing views from up there!

The Capanna Brogoldone was once a mountain pasture and is today the result of a desire to preserve the remains of a bygone era. From 1995 to 1998, a group of volunteers set to work renovating the two existing buildings while maintaining the typical structure of the pasture: the former stable became a dormitory, and the building that once served as a cheese dairy and shelter for the mountain herders was converted into a kitchen and dining room. Capanna Al Legn is an Alpine refuge located at 1,802 meters above sea level on the slopes of Gridone, above Brissago, in the Canton of Ticino. Inaugurated in 1995, the modern structure is spread over three floors and offers 12 beds, a kitchen equipped with wood and gas stoves, hot and cold water, toilets and a shower. The hut is accessible all year round via paths that start from the Brissago mountains, with a travel time of about two hours. From its panoramic position, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Lake Maggiore and the Brissago Islands. The use of a sleeping bag is mandatory, available on site at a cost of CHF 7. The unattended Rifugio Al Legn is located in a panoramic position on Alpe Arolgia above Brissago, offering an incredible 180-degree view of Lake Maggiore, perfect for mountain and nature lovers.

We - over-60s with good mountain skills - descended from the Cabanna Cadlimo through the Val Cadlimo to the Lukmanier Pass. The common description that the route is mostly on easy-to-walk paths is a dangerous understatement. It goes over long stretches over boulder fields, which require very good surefootedness and balance. Then down over some smooth rock ledges, which are secured with chains. So it's not all that easy!
