It is best to visit early in the morning. This is when you have the best view of all the sights. It is also possible to stop and look without disturbing anyone.

Great place, worth seeing.

Certainly the most impressive place in Bamberg, with architectural styles from all eras from Romanesque to Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo. This place breathes history from every pore. The four-towered imperial cathedral is the heart of the city and the most important work of art in the surrounding area and dates back to the church foundation of Henry II, who founded the diocese of Bamberg in 1007. Today's cathedral dates back to 1237. The Old Court with its unique inner courtyard adjoins the cathedral and heralds the Renaissance era of the 16th century. The cathedral building hut and the historical museum are located here today. On the other side is the Diocesan Museum, equipped with the famous imperial cloaks and the papal regalia of Pope Clement II. Opposite on the other side of the cathedral square is the New Residence with the magnificent imperial hall and the state rooms.
