Very nice panoramic view, start the hike from the Götschen car park (near Bischhofswiesen), then you at least know that you have done something to get to the dead man!
The Hochstaufen (1,771 meters) is a striking rocky mountain and a well-known eye-catcher, rising between Bad Reichenhall, Piding, and Anger (Berchtesgadener Land).
Worth the walk up to for beautiful views and full panoramas of the surrounding areas. It’s also a very secure summit, so suitable for children as there is very little risk at this gipfel!
The Eagle's Nest is a mountain inn above Berchtesgaden, which was built from 1937 to 1938 by the NSDAP as a representative building. It stands just below the Kehlsteingspitze at 1834 m altitude on a mountain spur.
According to legend, a God-fearing and chaste dairymaid was once turned to stone here to protect her from the devil. According to another legend, a prostitute was turned to stone because she had killed her own child.
