In 1813, the French army, under the command of Jacques MacDonald, had its headquarters at this farmstead in Krajów. It's definitely worth walking up to the house and looking at the entrance portal, which bears a lengthy German inscription. And even on the back are gravestones of two women who once lived here. While you're near the building, you might be approached by other residents. Knowledge of Polish or a translation app would be helpful.

Of course, this is no longer the historic bridge where the French army suffered a terrible defeat in August 1813, but it is precisely this spot. That's why a memorial to this battle stands just a few meters away.

For an amateur, the hills are demanding

The station building has been beautifully renovated, both inside and out. The platform hall is bright and welcoming. It's useful as a transfer station for those who want to use stations that aren't on the main line to Wrocław. The station forecourt is pleasantly undeveloped and doesn't immediately overwhelm you with all sorts of buildings.

You can drive right up. A sign says you can rent rooms.
