Beautiful walk on wooden constructions on the mountainside

A super nice restaurant, local dishes, well not all "Geneva" but so delicious 😋

Accessible by snowshoe in winter, not very busy, a brisk climb in the powder and an incredible view at the summit as a reward for our efforts... a must!

17th century chapel with a roof of large, flat stones, a beautiful Baroque high altar and a surprising collection of ex votos in the form of paintings.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Compassion is located at the foot of the rock on which the Château de la Bâtiaz proudly stands in Martigny. This shrine has a wealth of special features: In the small chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Compassion you will find a remarkable collection of colorful ex-votos from the 18th and 19th centuries. These decorate the right wall of the chapel. In addition, there are beautiful stained glass windows made by Father Kim En Joong. These vitraux were donated by Léonard Gianadda in 2014. The chapel is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Location: Chemin de la Chapelle 8, 1920 Martigny.

The Pont de la Bâtiaz is the last remaining wooden bridge for vehicles in Valais. It was first washed away by the floods of the Dranse in 1635, and later again by the Giétroz disaster in 1818. A new bridge was built in 1829. Today it is roofed and has larch arches. In 1920 the bridge was strengthened. It is currently the last arch bridge still in use in Valais. Architecture and location: Dating from the 19th century, the Pont de la Bâtiaz is an impressive example of craftsmanship in local larch wood. The bridge spans the wild Dranse River, which is prone to flooding.

Construction of the Château de la Bâtiaz began around 1260. It is the only surviving testimony of the medieval period in this region. The castle often changed hands between the House of Savoy and the Bishops of Sion.
