There is something magical about the landscape - on the left the towering hills reaching up into the sky, on the right the calm water shimmering in the light. The road winds along the coast, picturesque and with a touch of wildness that is so rarely found. The air smells fresh and slightly salty, and the constant wind from the water gives the route a refreshing note.

The perfect meeting spot to start any run in this area. From this point you can head either into Rostrevor village, out towards Killowen, into Kilbroney park or head north alongside the river.

'The Invisible Tree' is a giant 200-year oak tree that has been in the spotlight due to it's position in a local planning dispute. For generations, the tree has provided habitat for many important species such as the Red Squirrel and has brought visitors from all over to witness its beauty. The existence of the tree was deleted from local plans to build apartments nearby, which caused an uproar in the community and subsequently led to a fight back. The tree was crowned 'Tree of the Year' by the Woodland Trust and permission to build on the land was denied, a victory!
