the point at which the Kennet and Avon canal crossed the river and railway line via the Aqueduct built by John Rennie & John Thomas between 1797 and 1801. Good pub here which will reopen summer 2025. This is on the main railway line now becoming a regular (request?) stop since 2011

Iford Manor itself was closed when I walked here, but it was such a lovely walk, I will be heading back to go into the grounds & onwards to visit Farleigh Castle when I have time. There is some really beautiful countryside all around the area, it's worth exploring

The café sells well-made and ethically sourced food, cakes and snacks as well as drinks. Nice outside space to sit or a couple of tables inside if the weather isn't so nice. There is also a drinking water fountain outside to fill your bottles. You can park your bike safety within view of the café or lock it to the shops railings. Lovely little woods with a few stinging climbs & some fast flowing descents. Just watch out for the hidden rocks/roots under the leaves!

The Avoncliff Aqueduct is a historic aqueduct that carries the Kennet and Avon Canal over the River Avon. It's considered one of the most impressive feats of engineering on the canal. The aqueduct was designed by the famous canal engineer John Rennie, and was completed in 1801. It's made of local limestone and is adjacent to the Avoncliff railway station, which adds to its charm and accessibility.

The picturesque Cotswold hamlet of Iford straddles the River Frome a few miles Bradford-on-Avon. As well as a colleciton of beautiful Bath Stone houses and cottages, it has a medieval bridge, built in the 1400s. Grade I-listed Iford Manor was home to garden architect Harold Peto at the turn of the 20th century. His Italianate Peto gardens are open to the public, with tea rooms on site for refreshments.

Lovely place to stop off for food and drink. Chefs fish & chips is fab. Lovely riverside view in summer time, watch out for wildlife including fish, ducks, swans and kingfisher.

Good bridleway, easy to pass.

Good place for a light refreshment.
