The Löns Tower was built in 1928 as an 18-meter-high viewing platform made of sandstone blocks on the 444-meter-high Kanstein mountain in memory of the local poet Hermann Löns. The surrounding beech trees grew so well that the viewing platform disappeared into the treetops. In 1972, the tower was raised by 5 meters using a steel structure. In 1995, the tower was completely renovated and raised a second time thanks to donations. The tower is always open to visitors and is staffed for special occasions.
