Vienenburg station was built in 1840 on the line of the First German State Railway (December 1, 1838) from Braunschweig via Wolfenbüttel, Börssum, Schladen, and Vienenburg to Neustadt (Bad Harzburg). It is the oldest surviving station in Germany.

The memorial to the fallen in Wiedelah, which commemorates the soldiers who died in the First and Second World Wars, has now been cleaned and restored for 1,500 euros. The suggestion for this was made by the Wiedelah mayor Ulrich Bock and Manfred Dieber. The order was carried out by "Natursteinwerk Wolfenbüttel Max Kraft GmbH". The result is impressive: Natural contaminants such as moss and algae were removed and joints were repaired. In particular, the inscription was made legible again by tinting.
