The sculpture park in Hude is somewhat hidden between Hude and Vielstedt. Coming from Hude, turn left at the Peter Ustinov School, just past the Hude stream. There are two other entrances, but only one is signposted; the turn-off from Vielstedt is easy to miss. There are many sculptures and artworks to see here. I would like to see some explanatory signs. A visit is definitely worthwhile!

A special experience can be had here in April/May, when the bog myrtle blooms.

The observation tower only slightly improves the view. It was difficult to get to the tower today. There is still a lot of water in the moor.

The reconstruction of this prehistoric boardwalk stands on the edge of the Witte Moor. In the past, when the moor was not yet drained, there was no other way to cross it. Today everything is much easier. Some boards provide information about the history and a large seating area invites you to take a break.

Here is a wide area with many different sculptures and some seating. Personally, bizarrely shaped trees are enough for me, but for a change on a long bike ride I won't say no to them.

The high moor formerly used for peat cutting, part of which lies in the municipality of Hude, was renatured in the 1980s. Three designated hiking trails lead you through the nature reserve, on a replica of a historical boardwalk and to a lookout tower from which you can explore the moor world. The so-called Bohlenweg im Wittemoor (Reg. No. XLII (IP)) is a prehistoric moorland path near Neuenhuntorf, a district of Berne in the Wesermarsch district in Lower Saxony. The trail was excavated and scientifically described in 1965 and 1970. The Bohlenweg in Wittemoor is one of numerous sites where prehistoric moor paths were found in the Low German Plain, particularly in the Weser-Ems region. Sections of Bohlenweg XLII (42) were uncovered, on which a total of six abstract wooden figures were found at various points. The first found was a pair of figures, which probably represent a male and female deity (anthropomorphic pole gods), and are among the few surviving carvings from the Iron Age. The faceless couple was positioned where the boardwalk crossed a ford.
