No swell, no surf! Just behind Leineschloss Palace and the Schlossbrücke (Palace Bridge) lies Hanover's standing wave. Inspired by Munich's Eisbach wave, Hanover's counterpart has been attracting surf-loving city dwellers since 2023. The wave is about eight and a half meters wide and is controlled by a hydraulic weir. The fire station with its hose tower, built in 1949, stands in the village square. Next to it is a bell tower with a clock, erected in 1998. The bell tower had been dismantled from the former schoolhouse, which is now privately owned. After restoration, the tower was placed in the village square.

A lovely path along the banks of the Leine River. The traffic on the city ring road is a nuisance, but that's what happens when you make car enthusiasts into city planners.

The summit cross on the Kronsberg marks Hanover's highest point – 118 meters above sea level. It stands on an artificially raised observation hill on the southeastern outskirts of the city, near the Expo site. From here, you can enjoy a sweeping view of the city, the Deister Mountains, and the surrounding countryside.
