The hilltop, now called the "Worship Meadow," has been a leveled assembly area since Germanic times, adjacent to the sacred spring of the Holy Well. It is the westernmost and, at approximately 81 meters, one of the highest hilltops in the area. Back then, its treeless location offered an unobstructed view of the Rhine plain and the burial mound field located there, now built over. This clear view across the thousands of burial mounds towards the setting sun must have been phenomenal and of cultic significance. It is likely that, as elsewhere, a circle of wooden posts was placed here to mark the solstices and other astronomically important dates for cultic and agricultural purposes. Unfortunately, no excavations have yet been carried out to confirm this. The site was probably in continuous use, as the Roman temple of Elfrath was oriented towards this location, and baptismal ceremonies held there are documented from early Christian times. Even today, the area is used for open-air worship services.

Bissingheimer Wäldchen Nature Reserve – A Green Refuge near Duisburg The Bissingheimer Wäldchen Nature Reserve is a small but valuable piece of nature in the Ruhr region near Duisburg. It is a near-natural woodland that provides diverse habitats for numerous plant and animal species, thus fulfilling an important ecological function. The Bissingheimer Wäldchen is characterized by its diverse flora: deciduous trees such as oaks, beeches, and ash trees dominate the landscape, complemented by shrubs and flowering undergrowth plants. This diversity creates an ideal habitat for birds, small mammals, and insects. Particularly noteworthy is the peace and seclusion that the grove offers despite its proximity to urban centers. Walking trails invite you to explore nature, listen to birdsong, and escape the stresses of everyday life. The area is protected to promote natural development and preserve biodiversity. Maintenance measures are limited to minimal intervention to preserve the natural dynamics. For visitors, the Bissingheimer Wäldchen offers a pleasant retreat with opportunities for nature observation and relaxation. The paths are easy to navigate and are suitable for walks and quiet excursions. Those seeking relaxation in a quiet, green woodland in the Ruhr region will find the Bissingheimer Wäldchen nature reserve a worthwhile destination away from large crowds.

A secluded clearing that exudes a special sense of tranquility. It would be beneficial for animals, plants, and humans if there were more of these in the commercial forest.

The meadow orchard, also known regionally as an orchard, orchard, bitz, bangert, bongert or bungert (tree garden), is a traditional form of fruit growing. In meadow orchards, tall fruit trees are scattered, usually of different ages and different species and varieties. Modern, intensive fruit growing, on the other hand, is characterized by low-stemmed fruit varieties in monoculture (fruit plantations). In contrast to low-stemmed orchards, the trees are often "scattered" in the landscape.
