In the presence of this memorial, which commemorates the victims of war and tyranny, I would like to offer the viewer a very short excerpt from a remarkable speech given in 1985 by the then Federal President Richard Karl Freiherr von Weizsäcker (1920–2015): "We learn from our own history what humankind is capable of. Therefore, we must not imagine that we have become different and better as human beings. There is no ultimate moral perfection—for anyone and no country! We have learned as human beings, and we remain vulnerable as human beings. But we have the strength to overcome these dangers again and again. (...)" Richard von Weizsäcker delivered this widely noted speech on May 8, 1985, on the 40th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, and his words—even 40 years later—remain relevant.

Funny: The tower's tilt is only visible from the west. From the east, the tower appears straight. There's a QR code on the tower gate that leads to a virtual climb and a scenic flight. VERY well done. THANK YOU

The war memorial was erected for the fallen soldiers of the village of Drehlitz in World War I and features inscriptions. On its east-facing side is the inscription: 1914-1918 Our Fallen gratefully honors the community of Krosigk... A plaque with the names of those who died in World War II was later added to the west-facing side: .... Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kriegerdenkmal_Krosigk

The keep, presumably built in the 9th century as a defensive tower, is still preserved from the original castle complex. The keep was originally 30 meters high. In 1886, 7 meters were removed because the keep was leaning to the northwest and cracks appeared in the porphyry masonry. The causes can be traced back to the subsoil of the former moated castle. The keep currently tilts 86 cm. To increase stability, the 10-meter-deep dungeon in the keep was also filled in. Source: https://www.gemeinde-petersberg.de/de/krosigk.html

Krosigk Castle was first documented in 927 as "castrum croszok." It was originally a moated castle and forms the historic center of the town. A children's home was established in the former manor house of the manor in 1946, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2016. Today, the castle courtyard and its buildings are primarily used by the municipality. Among other things, the castle houses the kindergarten, the municipal building yard, and the old distillery houses a multi-purpose hall with club rooms and apartments.
