Extensive forests surround the Schwarzer Grat. Directly near the summit, you hike through a lush green forest that repeatedly offers views of the Allgäu region. The partially exposed roots are particularly impressive.

The Water Gate in Isny is a historic city gate, first mentioned in 1337 and part of the city wall. It served not only as a watchtower but also as a prison, where many prisoners could remain for over 500 years.

The market square, with the Hallhaus (Hall House), the Blaser Tower (Blaser Tower), and the town hall, is the civic heart of the old Free Imperial City of Isny. Here, you can linger, look around, or enjoy a refreshment stop.

The glassmaking village of Schmidsfelden near Leutkirch in the Allgäu region is a lovingly restored ensemble of historic glassmakers' houses and a magnificent glassworks, which now serves as a museum and manufactory.
