The Zangentor - A journey into the past 📍 Location: Northeastern spur of the Buchberg, near Neumarkt If you fancy a hike with a historical flair, then you should definitely stop by the Buchberg. Here you will find the impressive Zangentor, part of a fortification from the Hallstatt and La Tène periods. Over 2000 years ago, Celts lived here and had to defend their settlements against numerous attacks. 🛡 The Zangentor: The name is not a coincidence. The gate system was designed in such a way that attackers were forced into a narrow ravine when they tried to cross it - a strategically ingenious move to "trap" them and fight them from the wall. 🌲 Hike: The path to the Zangentor leads through dense forest and is a beautiful destination, especially in autumn. The path is well signposted and the route is suitable for anyone looking for a mix of nature and history. 🔍 Tip: Take the time to read the information board at the gate. There are fascinating details about the Celtic settlements and the importance of these defensive structures.

The path winds through a beautiful beech forest up to the Buchberg (591 meters). Keep your eyes open for the rock towers of the Teufelskeller, which are hidden in the forest just before the summit.
