Stunning views overlooking Crummock Water and Buttermere. From here you can descend down the back and have many options to continue your route.

Busy in the summer and peak times but dog friendly and delicious food/drinks.

Super fun challenge, need to be pretty confident on your feet.

Such a lovely mountain to hike. Whatever the weather. Obviously, better on sunny days.

The Wainwright which is just out of the direction of the Coledale Horseshoe. Well worth the extra mile. View all the way to the sea!

This is a popular spot during the weekends especially when the Bluebells are in bloom. Arriving early or late in the afternoon/evening will give you a better chance to get it nearly to yourself. There is also limited parking along the roads. A great starting spot for small walks or to tick off Wainwright's in the area.

Fantastic Wainwright to get up early, when you can wander around and see the morning light reflecting from the tarns and have the place to yourself.

Skye Farm Tea Room is a popular place in a great location. They serve a nice selection of home cooked food as well as drinks, cake and snacks. Do try the homemade ice cream that's made with the prize-winning milk of their own Ayrshire cows. Skye farm also run the wonderful, basic campsite in Buttermere if you want to base yourself here and explore the wealth of running available.

This part of the route involves a small scramble ascent up some scree. The path is still clearly visible to follow and no parts of the scramble were too difficult.

Hopegill Head at 770m is a rocky summit at the end of some stunning ridge lines. The running here is outstanding! It's part of the Coledale Horseshoe accessed via Grisedale Pike from Braithwaite.

There are some top views in the Lakes and this is one of the best for me.

A wonderful valley at any time of year with a great fun runnable trail up the middle. In April to May each year it's literally blue with bluebells, a stunning sight! Rannerdale Knot is a fun summit above Rannerdale and Crumock Water, if you run around to the summit you get a great view down into this valley.

Haystacks was the favourite Wainwright for Alfred Wainwright and I can see why. The views are spectacular and the top is so quirky and fun
