A good quiet ride away from Keswick, mixed surface ride.

Take your time visiting Rydal Cave. It is a large cave on the north side of Loughrigg Fell, above Rydal Water. This cave is actually man-made, as a result of slate mining. Take the stepping stones through the shallow water at the entrance to the drier part of the cave. A torch is not really necessary.

Beautiful views of Nab Scar

After crossing the bay, the original tries to take you down the A590, a dual carriageway with cars doing 70 mph for 350 m to the roundabout. Not Safe or advisable!

Newly extended this is a great place to eat right on the lake shore

Rydal Water is one of the smallest lakes in the Lake District. It is only 3/4 mile long by 1/4 mile at its widest point, that is a pretty small 1.2 kilometres by 400 metres in metric terms. However, it is a very popular place because of the connection to William Wordsworth. The views out over Rydal are great from any vantage point, but particularly from here, where you can get a close-up view of the island.

Lucia's Cafe is highly praised for its delectable baked goods and excellent coffee. The atmosphere is friendly, with efficient service and a cosy setting, although seating indoors may be limited. It's a popular spot for both takeaways and dining in, offering a variety of treats like brownies, croissants, and homemade breads.

In 2020, the Bobbin Mill Tunnel opened as part of an upgrade project to the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Path. It was originally one of the two tunnels on the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith railway line and was dug through a spur on the banks of the River Greta. As part of the refurbishment project, picnic benches and viewing stations were installed close by.

Due to bad weather I did this chilled out walk..it was quite easy with some great scenery

Great views of the mere

This is an old coaching road which links Dockray with Threlkeld. It's a fantastic off-road link which is part of NCN 71. It's mainly excellent gravel but there are some tough rocky sections too. The views make it worth it, even if you have to get off and push.

This is a fantastic road for cycling on leading north up to Elterwater. It's characterised by low stone walls on either side of the road and mountainous views to the north. It's part of NCN 667 and regional route 37. If you're hungry, don't miss the Elterwater Inn at the northern end.

Maybe should have tried a wetsuit today! A brilliant shop with loads of good kit. Staff always friendly and willing to chat when I pop in.

An excellent off road gravel section past Elterwater. Gets very busy with families and walkers especially if the sun is shining. Remember your bell.

Not to difficult. Just drags on. Spin away and take in the beautiful surroundings.
