Beautiful hike via the waterfall, farmland and woodlands. The last part of the hike is uphill on winding roads. It's tiring but the views at the top are spectacular! Some parts of the hike were boggy but most of it was gravel paths.

This is a beautiful walk up through Stanley Ghyll which is a stunning gorge with a constant sound of tumbling waterfalls.

There’s a fantastic viewpoint you can walk out on to, which gives you an impressive view of the falls

Eskdale Mill is a historic watermill dating back to the 16th century, making it one of the oldest working watermills in the Lake District. The mill has now been restored and is a popular visitor attraction showcasing the traditional milling techniques and workings of a watermill.

Stanley Ghyll flows down from Birker Fell to the River Esk near Boot. There is a steep path which follows the stream and passes the spectacular Stanley Force.

The River Esk flows through Eskdale. Lovely paths follow the banks, giving access to the river for paddling or just to enjoy the view. Bit rocky and rough but not far from the road and great fun for kids.

I passed on the stepping stones. Definitely involves getting wet. I went by the bridge.

Lush views over Devoke Water!

Badly damaged by storms in recent years, and at least 2 currently submerged.

Possible to have a cool dip here with caution.

Stanley Ghyll Force on Birker Beck south of Eskdale is a 20m high waterfall in a dramatic narrow gorge.

An hidden gem a bit boggy for a walk but take you boat out and enjoy

Woodend Height had to be one of my favourite viewpoints when walking the Circuit of Devoke Water. The fells visible from the summit included - Seatallan, Haycock, Scoat Fell, Red Pike, Pillar, Whin Rigg, Illgill Head, Kirk Fell, Great Gable, Scafell, Scafell Pike, Ill Crag, Esk Pike, Bowfell, Crinkle Crags, Pike O'Blisco and Harter Fell. What a panorama! And all from a fell of a mere 489m itself. I was in hill walking heaven.

Yoadcastle is a 494m fell in the Lake District National Park. It has excellent views over the Old Man of Consiton range - including (from left to right behind me in the first image) Grey Friar, Swirl How, Brim Fell, Dow Crag, Coniston Old Man, Buck Pike and Brown Pike.

White Pike is a 442m top on Birkby Fell in the Lake District. It has a tall, thin, columnar cairn on the top. Views across to the Wasdale area are magnificent. Kirk Fell looks imposing from this angle but it's the Scafells that are the predictably the biggest mountains on the skyline.

Water Crag is a 305m fell in the Lake District National Park. It lies north of Devoke Water and is commonly hiked together with Rough Crag. From the summit you're blessed with views of both southwest Lakeland but also across the sea to the Isle of Man.

Rough Crag is a fell in the Lake District National Park that can be easily walked from the small car park east of Devoke Water on the road that links Ulpha with Eskdale. We followed the main track towards Devoke Water before peeling off up to the right where we could see the grass had been walked on. This faint line led right up to the summit.
