The name Leipe is derived from the Lower Sorbian word "Lipa" for linden tree and currently has around 100 inhabitants. It is interesting to know that Leipe used to be and still is. In the 1960s it was completely surrounded by water and could therefore only be reached by boat. Even today the town is located in the middle of a large number of canals and streams. Fantastic landscape in and around the "Gurkenradweg". The cycle paths are lined with many bridges that lead over the small canals.

Guest houses and restaurants, rental and service business for everything to do with bicycles - with a bicycle washing station and a bicycle tube machine in front of the building. I've never seen anything like it before. 👌🏿
