We recommend taking the cycle path to the left towards Nahmitz, as the straight path ends after 50 m and you have to use a busy road. The route through Nahmitz is a maximum of 300 m longer, on protected cycle paths or on the road within the town.

The jetty offers a great view of the pond, but unfortunately you can't get any further along the water.

Deaconesses live and serve in a committed community of life, faith, and service that understands their service as a commission from Jesus Christ. They are active in a wide variety of diaconal tasks of the church, including in parishes, hospitals, retirement and nursing homes, kindergartens, after-school care centers, and children's homes, as well as many other diaconal areas. They commit to a simple lifestyle, celibacy, and obedience. The respective order of the community determines this principle. Deaconesses in a cooperative form remain connected to their mother house (Deaconess House) for their entire lives. They contribute their income, except for a monthly allowance, to a common fund. In return, mutual care for the sick and elderly is ensured in the mother houses when needed. Many of the deaconesses who worked at Lehnin Monastery found their final resting place in this cemetery.

The oldest monastery in the Margraviate of Brandenburg is the former Cistercian monastery of Lehnin. It was founded in 1180 by Margrave Otto I of Brandenburg. The buildings and the grounds are very impressive. There is also a museum here.

One of the many legends and myths surrounding Lehnin Monastery is about its founding. Margrave Otto I of Brandenburg is said to have been separated from his companions while hunting in the forest here. After wandering around for a long time in the thicket, he sank exhausted under an oak tree and fell into a deep sleep. He dreamed that a deer was attacking him. He tried to defend himself against him with his hunting spear. When that failed, in his fear he cried out for help in Christ's name. Then the animal disappeared. When he awoke, his companions stood before him. When he told them about his dream, they said that it was certainly the devil in the form of a deer that harassed him and only disappeared when he called on the name of Christ. Margrave Otto decided to build a monastery on this site "so that the infernal enemy could be driven out of these areas through the prayers of pious men."
