A towpath, sometimes also called a towpath, which runs alongside the river or canal bed, was an indispensable part of the transport infrastructure in the proverbial "good old days." Before ships could move by motor power, horses walked along the bank and pulled the boat against the current. This activity was called "treideln," and this is how the towpath got its name. As briefly mentioned at the beginning, in some areas the term "towpath" is more common for these paths, since the boat and horse were connected by a rope. Wherever these paths, located directly on the bank, have been preserved - regardless of their name - they are now popular with hikers and cyclists.

The Hakeburg is a manor house destroyed in the war which, as is the case with castles, became a hardware store for the surrounding residents in the post-war period. In the 1960s, the remains were leveled. Today, when historical awareness is once again alive, a small nature park has been created at the site of the Hakeburg. In a decorative way, quotes from famous personalities on the subject of nature can be found. A beautiful place 🫠
