After a major town fire in 1702, the gate was rebuilt with some structural modifications. From 1976 to 1991, it housed the Tribsees Local History Museum (a small local history museum), which later moved to the Stone Gate and finally to another building in 2007.

A beautiful ruin where services are still held today, albeit irregularly. There are many very old gravestones in the churchyard. There are three beautiful, old linden trees to admire and behind the churchyard is a very well-preserved tower mound.

An ecclesiastical gem is the St. Thomas Church in Tribsees, which was built around 1320 in the Gothic style and shapes the cityscape today. Fires and different beliefs shaped the interior and exterior. A neo-Gothic renovation followed later. In 1702 the church burned down. Only the carved mill altar, a sculptural representation of a Eucharistic mill from the second quarter of the 15th century, could be saved. It is the most valuable interior today. The mill was a very popular motif of the Cistercians, who exercised patronage over this church from the Neuenkamp monastery. When opened, the altar measures 5.50 meters wide and 2.12 meters high. In addition to the unique piece, the Lübeck pulpit piece from 1577, a baroque crucifixion group from 1710 and a Buchholz organ from 1831, which was restored in 1996, can be admired in St. Thomas Church.
