In Sankt Andreasberg, the main church is the Protestant Martini Church (St. Martini), located on the church square. Formerly the site of the Trinity Church (Dreifaltigkeitskirche), which was destroyed by fire in 1796, its bell tower is now the town's most famous landmark. The current church is the Martini Church. There is also a Roman Catholic parish in the town. The Oder Dam dams the Oder, a tributary of the Rhume. The reservoir is used extensively for water sports such as fishing, sailing and surfing, and there are beautiful hiking trails around it. The large, free hiking car park is located right next to the monastery complex and is a very good starting point for visiting the World Heritage monastery complex as well as for a subsequent hike around the monastery ponds.

The Protestant St. Martin's Church in St. Andreasberg was built in the classicist style between 1809 and 1811. It replaced the St. Trinity Church, which was completely destroyed in the devastating city fire of 1796. The new church was inaugurated on November 10th - St. Martin's Day - and was named after this saint.
