The Eschbachtal outdoor pool will remain closed for renovations until approximately 2027! As of May 2025, the city of Remscheid is now starting the renovation, or rather, the tender process for the work; a verbal commitment from NRW funding has been received. The renovation also includes the renaturalization and exposure of the Eschbach River, which currently runs in pipes beneath the outdoor pool and flooded the pool during the last flood. New swimming pools, slides, and a new paddling area with water from the stream for children are planned. Direct access to the stream is not possible for nature conservation reasons. Overall, the water surface will be reduced to save energy. The entire new construction will cost approximately €31.5 million.
