Here you can still see evidence of the old farming practices with their hedgerows (tree and hedge lines) that protected the fields from the wind. The pollarded willows are also typical of the Lower Rhine region; baskets were woven from their branches. This is a cycle path.

Directly at the intersection of Münsterland, the Lower Rhine, and the northern Ruhr metropolis lies the Hohe Mark Nature Park in North Rhine-Westphalia, where this section also belongs. A small, glacial sandstone hill country, the Hohe Mark serves as its namesake. This wooded ridge forms one of the largest contiguous forest areas north of the Ruhr metropolis and, with the exception of a few small farming communities, is almost uninhabited.
