Many leisure activities are possible at Lake Wallendorf, volleyball, football, surfing and table tennis to name just a few. There are also many lawns for sunbathing and there are children's playgrounds for younger visitors. Lake Raßnitzer is in the immediate vicinity, both of which can be cycled around very nicely, with an 8-wheel cycle covering around 20 kilometers.

A bike tour around the Raßnitzer and Wallendorfer lakes, ridden as an 8, makes for a beautiful 20 km long bike tour! Preferably with a mountain bike or a well-profiled touring bike, for the young people the gravel bike is also possible 👍😉

There are small, shallow bathing areas everywhere. Lots of space to enjoy peace and quiet. The water is crystal clear and clean. One request: Please take a garbage bag with you and leave the bathing areas clean.

The White Elster rises in the Elster Mountains west of the Kapellenberg at a height of 724 m above sea level. Its source is near Vyhledy, southeast of Aš in the Czech Republic, where it is called "Bélý Halštrov". The 257 km long river crosses the Saxon Vogtland with the towns of Oelznitz and Plauen, East Thuringia with Greiz and Gera and the Leipzig lowland bay with Zeitz and Leipzig. The course of the Elster is interrupted within Saxony-Anhalt. It enters Saxony-Anhalt territory for the first time near Wetterzeube (between Gera and Zeitz), but leaves it again behind Profen to flow through Saxony again from Pegau to Schkeuditz before flowing into the Saale south of Halle at around 80 m above sea level.

The Elster flood bed in Leipzig is an important water management structure specifically designed to regulate and direct floods of the White Elster. It starts at the Palmgarten weir and runs along important parts of the city such as Schleußig and Plagwitz. The flood bed plays a central role in relieving the flow of the White Elster, especially during flood events. For visitors who want to enjoy nature, the Elster flood bed offers a scenic route along its banks, passing through the Clara Zetkin Park and other green spaces. It is an ideal place for walking, cycling and observing the local flora and fauna.
