During the summer months (until the end of September), a small but charming café in the church park is open on Saturdays and Sundays between 2 and 5 p.m., weather permitting. It also serves delicious homemade cakes, fries, and other specialties – run entirely by volunteers.

Swimming, boat trips, sailing, diving and other recreational sports are possible in the reservoir (although no sports boats with combustion engines are permitted), there is a campsite and extensive recreational activities, such as a climbing park. Passenger ship tours are offered on the dam in the summer months. Sailing regattas are held regularly, and many sailing clubs and a diving club are organized around the dam. In the summer season, the main bathing beach (FKK Helmsgrün) is guarded by the water rescue service during the day, and regattas and diving competitions are also supervised. A triathlon takes place every year. Hiking around the reservoir is also possible on a route of almost twenty kilometers.
