In the middle of the historic town of Torgau, on the southwestern edge of the old town, stands the striking water tower, an impressive testimony to the urban infrastructure of the early 20th century. Built in 1903 under the direction of the engineer Pfeffer, the tower once served as the central water source for the entire city. With its imposing height of 45 meters and a capacity of 500 cubic meters of water in the basin, Torgau's water tower was an important part of the city's supply. The red clinker building impresses with its elaborate, historicist design. The circular tower shaft, which tapers towards the top, is characterized by tracery cornices above the base zone and in the transition to the cantilevered tank floor. Narrow, dark-framed slit windows and crenellated window bays on the eaves give the tower a medieval appearance, while the entrance decorated with crenellations and the year 1903 and a sandstone plaque with the city's coat of arms underline its historical character. The conical roof with superstructures completes the impressive appearance.
