Poplars are fast-growing. They can be recognized by their slender trunks and fluttering leaves. They often grow on riverbanks or in damp locations like this one – and they provide habitat for many animals and are used both ecologically and economically.

Designated a historical monument in 1987, the tower now marks the boundaries of the Bundeswehr firing ranges Todendorf and Putlos. Those who climb the 179 steps can even say "I do" in the wedding chamber – weddings for up to ten people are possible.

This relatively small breed of cattle is quite good-natured, but sometimes also shy.

The beach path behind the dike is 400 meters long. It offers an unobstructed view of the lighthouse and the buffalo meadows.

From Beach to Dune Wide beaches, beach ridges, and dunes characterize the coastline here. Sea squill, stonecrop, and sea kale grow on the pebbly beaches. The white dunes support marram grass and sea rye, while further inland, the older grey dunes develop, featuring willowherb, thrift, and pansies. They provide space for shrubs, trees, and the non-native rugosa rose.
