Mühlberg was first mentioned in a deed of gift from Duke Hedan to Bishop Willibord of Utrecht in 704. However, the place was already mentioned in a monk's chronicle in 319. The visitor will find a typical clustered village with lots of things to see, which is home to around 1270 inhabitants.

The aqueduct in Mühlberg is an artificial confluence of the Weidbach and Burgbach rivers. In earlier times, such an aqueduct was used to carry the Weidbach water to the Steigmühle in order to ensure its operation. The aqueduct was renovated in 1993. It is located near Thomas-Müntzer-Straße in a niche along the stream, between the houses.

Mühlberg is home to Thuringia's oldest 18-hole golf course. The golf course at Gut Ringhofen was opened in 1998. The golf course is complemented by the Hotel & Restaurant Taubennest, the Gut Ringhofen riding stables and the Drei Gleichen campsite.
