Grimstad Church is located on Kirkeheia with a beautiful view of the harbor and the archipelago. It was built in 1880 and is one of the largest wooden churches in the country with its 1150 seats. A smaller church, seating 500, was originally built on the same property in 1849, but quickly became too small. When the new church was built, the old church was moved to Engene where it still stands just across the parish boundary to Arendal.
