Birkenes Church is a prominent landmark in the village of Birkenes. This distinctive wooden church is easily spotted as you cycle through the area. It's a good spot to have a break on your ride to appreciate the quiet atmosphere of the churchyard.

Beautiful scenery. Well worth it as an alternative to the cycle path on the 420 from Grimstad to Lillesand if you are not travelling with heavy luggage. All types of surface are included, tar, bound chippings, dirt road with water-bound surface with 4 short but steep climbs.

A tour along the marina leads, partly over wooden walkways, past well-kept green areas, nice cafes and restaurants. Very pleasant atmosphere!

In addition to the beautiful town with the many wooden houses, the harbor with the many boats and (smaller) yachts is worth a detour or just a picnic or ice cream break.

Very characteristic of Grimstadt, the slightly elevated church with a wonderful view of the harbor and the archipelago. A smaller church, seating 500, was originally built on the same property in 1849, but quickly became too small. In 1880 the new church was consecrated.

Grimstad with its many wooden houses - many of them white - and the small streets is definitely worth a visit. You can also linger at the port.

Undoubtedly a good place to look around when there is little traffic. Otherwise, I recommend going off the road a bit or going to Lillesand.
