Fort Monroe, nicknamed the “Gibraltar of the Chesapeake,” is the largest historic stone fort in America. It was built between 1819 and 1834 to guard the entrance to Chesapeake Bay.

The Mariners’ Museum was designated by Congress as America’s National Maritime Museum. It has one of the largest maritime artifact collections in North America.

East Beach is a quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of Norfolk. The homes are mainly built in a traditional Atlantic Coast style and have their own charm. The beach is the main draw for visitors and those visiting in summer might catch a free concert at the Stage Pavilion.

A true highlight of Norfolk the Botanical Garden never disappoints. The trails are well maintained and make for a walk with the family. The garden is near the airport so there can be some noise but other than that it's a very relaxing place to visit.

Ocean View lies at the edge of Norfolk and, as the name suggests, it has excellent views over the water. There are a number of public parks and beaches for visitors to enjoy, along with a nice assortment of restaurants and bars to choose from.
