State park right off a neighborhood road in New Ulm

The falls in the state park can be amazing, they were today for sure!

This is a great falls, and like most of them can really very during the year and depending on the season. Years ago when I came here you could hike from one side of the falls to the other in a nice loop, then about 12 years ago the trail collapsed near the picnic area. Now on this most recent visit they closed the stairs down to the falls base. Still worth a visit though! And go see the other part of the park with the windmill and bison!

The water level at the Minneopa Falls was really low this trip. It's a fun place to visit year round, to see what the falls looks like, mid winter it builds up the best ice falls.

This park is filled with beautiful scenery, featuring limestone stairs, waterfalls, open meadows, well-maintained trails, and old mills. There are plenty of picnic areas to rest at, and if needed, a camping area is available to extend your stay in the area.

The Upper and Lower Minneopa Falls on Minneopa Creek in Minneopa State Park are just a short walk from the parking lot and a perfect place for a picnic.

This scenic picnic area is the trail head for the South Route Trail which skirts the southwest corner of Mankato, Minnesota.
