The location of the Bergen Fish Market has its own special charm - on the harbor in the heart of the city between the western Norwegian fjords and the seven mountains. As early as the 13th century, the now world-famous fish market was a meeting place for locals, people from the region and visitors to the city. The fish market sells fresh fish, fish products and other seafood delicacies, as well as food from the region's farms such as fruit, berries and vegetables. There are also several restaurants that offer a wide selection of seafood delicacies. The adjacent Mathallen fish market is in the same building as the tourist information office. It is part of the fish market and is open all year round, while the open-air market is open in the summer months and the stalls are open from May 1st.
