This one of two restored mounds and stockades in Aztalan State Park. They were damaged after years and years of modern agricultural use and have been restored to how they might have looked centuries ago. The log fortifications were constructed in the same places where archaeologists found evidence of stockades that protected the mounds.

The Rome Pond Trail is a quiet, mostly flat, but often wet and muddy trail through the woods and wetlands near Rome and Mill Ponds. This is a great place to look for birds and other animals, but as noted, can be quite damp so be sure to wear proper shoes!

The Paradise Valley Wildlife Area, spans 1,800 acres across four parcels to offer public hunting and support habitat for various wildlife. The area features primarily emergent wetlands, surrounded by oak openings, savanna, grasslands, and former prairie agricultural land, catering to both game species and conservation efforts.

The is one of the largest lakes in Wisconsin. The area has changed a lot over the past centuries. It was once a marsh and wetlands. But, these were been replaced by water due to damming. Around the lake, you'll still spot lots of bird species, many of which are endangered. The lake is well known for great fishing.

This river flowers for almost 300 miles (481 km) through Illinois and Wisconsin. A tributary of the Mississippi River, it has many beautiful spots. It winds through rural landscapes and wilderness, passing towns like Fort Atkinson on the way.

The view from Bald Bluff is stunning! It is worth walking all the way here and enjoying the huge landscape.

Emma Carlin Trails are 3 loop routes (Orange, Green and Brown) of different difficulty that introduce you to the discovery of the park. These trails can be hiked in summer and winter.
