There is a park right at the trailhead with a playground, picnic shelter, and plenty of picnic tables and benches along the stream.

Piedmont Trails is a network of trails for hikers and bikers of all levels, located near Enger Park. You can enjoy the views of Duluth and the St. Louis River from rocky overlooks, or explore the forest and creek along the trails. You can also access the Superior Hiking Trail from Piedmont, or ski on the groomed trails in winter.

Lollygagger is a fun and scenic trail for bikers and hikers of all levels. Enjoy the rolling, forested terrain, the big banked turns, and the tunnel under Haines Road.

The Hidden Valley Recreation Area is home to over 10 miles of singletrack mountain biking trails with another 7 miles of trails currently under construction. The trails are all well-marked and are open to skiing in the winter months.

All told, this paved multi-use trail stretches for almost eight miles along the shoreline of Lake Superior. It's great for recreation like running, walking and biking, but also a nice way to commute around town if your route falls luckily close to the Lakewalk's path.

Safeguarding birds in the Western Lake Superior Region through research and education. Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve features over 4 miles (6.44 km) of trails exploring geology, flora, and wildlife. The staff conducts bird research and educates the public during the fall.
