I love old cemeteries. The old, weathered gravestones, slightly tilted, create a very special atmosphere.

As you enter the port of Joure by boat, the Groene Molen (Green Mill) windmill greets you at the harbor entrance. A magnificent sight 👀🤗👍🏼

Penningas Mill (English: Penninga's Mill) or De Jonge Wester is a smock mill built in 1900.

What a nice idea with the three figures looking up at the church tower 😀. You can't help but follow the direction the three are looking 👀

The church is named after Hobbe van Baerdt, the grietman (mayor) of Haskerland (1615-1650). The triangular ornament (the pediment) above the entrance gate reads "De heer Gritman Hobbe van Baerdt 1644." That same year, on March 18, the foundation stone was laid for the construction of the two-aisled church (nave and side aisle). This new building was intended to replace a church from the 16th century. In 1939, the church was destroyed by fire, and due to the Second World War, reconstruction dragged on until 1947.

The shop is lovingly decorated, and in addition to delicious ice cream, they also offer homemade pralines, macarons, and chocolate. A definite must from us 👍🏼
