As you make your way along Emigration Canyon Road and round a bend, you're greeted by views of the surrounding mountains and reservoirs below. It's undoubtedly one of the most best vantage points along the route.

This park is 110 acres of urban tranquility, with lots of open green space, ponds, picnic pavilions, and athletic fields. It also anchors one end of Parley's Trail, a great multi-use trail that runs all the way to Parley's Historic Nature Park and the mouth of Parley's Canyon.

As far as alpine trail runs go, the trail to White Pine Lake isn't too bad. Most of the run is on wide track with relatively gradual elevation gain and some shade.

Just to your southeast is pretty blue-green Desolation Lake and its fringe of trees. You can run around it for an easy loop, or keep trucking if you're hunting to bag a few peaks.

Cecret Lake is a beautiful alpine lake, accessed via a relatively easy run. Look for a profusion of wildflowers in season, and maybe even a moose sighting if you're lucky.

Dog Lake is a beautiful lake located between Big Cottonwood Canyon and Millcreek. It is lined with trees and (you guessed it) dog friendly! Dogs can usually be seen splashing and swimming around this lake with their people.

Lake Catherine is a stark beauty set against the alpine backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains. It is the last of the three Brighton Lakes, or lakes Mary, Martha, and Catherine, which you'd encounter in that order as you run this trail.
