Great trail

This I guess used to be a mountain bike trail. The path leading to it is closed due lack of upkeep. Neat little ride. I'm new to biking so I thought it was cool.

The Cunningham Lake Pavilion is a great spot for a break if you are riding the Lake Cunningham Trail. It is a good place to get out of the sun on a hot day and enjoy the wonderful views of the lake.

The trail around the lake is a wide concrete path with a mix of shade and sun. It is a little more crowded here near the marina versus the northern side of the lake.

The lake was created in 1977 for recreation and flood management. It was drained in 2006 for restoration and reopened in 2010. The lake is open to sailing and has a wide, concrete, partially shaded bike path that circumnavigates the lake.

The pavilion gives you a nice shaded view of the lake. There are pebble beaches along the water and bathrooms at the pavilion.

From the park you can follow the Keystone Trail along Little Papillon Creek or take the South Omaha Trail through town to where it intersects with the Field Club Trail.

Elmwood Park has numerous sports fields, well-maintained trails, and picnic areas near the creek. Interestingly, the first-ever court trial in Nebraska concerned land ownership in what is now Elmwood Park.
