The Snake River is the largest tributary of the Columbia River. Idaho Falls has an impressive Snake River Greenbelt with a walking/biking path, art installations, and a 22-foot waterfall, the Idaho Falls namesake.

Russell Freeman Park covers 60 acres along the banks of the Snake River. The park is known for the beautiful paved path that circles the park. The park also has a War Memorial, Disc Golf Course, Shelter, Playground, and Restrooms.

Large recreational park south of Idaho Falls. Trails, picnic areas, playground, and a long waterfront along the Snake River offer both hiking opportunities and rest areas. The park and the 1.05 acre fishing pond are open to the general public year round from 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.

Palisades Creek rushes out of Upper and Lower Palisades Creek and is home for several species of trout. The Palisades Creek Trail runs along and takes you the two scenic alpine lakes nestled in the Palisades Creek Canyon.

Palisades Creek Campground is an idyllic place for hiking, fishing and recreation. It is nestled in the Palisades Creek Canyon and offers picnic tables, toilets and drinking water. It operates on a first come, first served-base and is open from May. There are five single units and two double units. Fees per night range from 12 Dollars for a single unit to 24 Dollars for a double unit. It a located next to the trailhead for the popular Palisades Creek Trail that leads to Lower and Upper Palisades Lake.

The beautiful Lower Palisades Lake is a scenic alpine lake nestled in Palisades Creek Canyon and below Palisades Peak. It is located in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest and a great place to take a hike and fish. It is about 2.5 miles to hike up to Upper Palisades Lake.

The Eastern Idaho Visitor Center in Idaho Falls is not a typical visitor center you might know from the National Parks. You can get maps, brochures and information for the regional attractions and events, but there is also a generous gift shop with souvenirs and you can chat with the staff about almost everything regarding Eastern Idaho. They will have recommendations about places to eat, sleep and enjoy the historic city. Opening hours: Monday through Friday 10 AM to 5 PM, closed on Saturday and Sunday
