Great public beach that is very easy to access via bicycle

Lit in 1872 and still operational, this lighthouse provides a picturesque view with Lake Michigan from this point. The original catwalk extends to the lighthouse, so for a closer look, you'll need to dismount your bike and walk.

Situated near the South Haven marina, North Beach provides a delightful sandy area with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the South Haven South Pierhead Lighthouse.

Silver Beach became a county park in the 1990s, when Berrien County began to renovate parts of the beach. The St. Joseph River flows into Lake Michigan on the north end of the beach, the two bodies of water are connected by the South Pier where you can walk to the end of the pier for a 360-degree view of this premier tourist destination. The North Pier, on the other side of the river, is an iconic photo opportunity identifiable with its raised catwalk that connects the start of the pier to the very end where the famous lighthouse sits. Al Sabo has diverse habitats with lots of wildlife. You can explore the woods, wetlands and meadows on the network of trails, some of which are marked. You can only ride on the trails that are designated for bicycles. The preserve is open from dawn until dusk.

Located right next to the pier, West Basin Marina is a popular place to dock pretty sailing boats. Sit and watch the boats as they leave and return from Lake Michigan.
